SUPPORT STEWARDSHIP

Below are the opportunities and services that CPSC offers to our funders. Read more on how to join and engage with CPSC's extensive community.

DONATE

CPSC is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies on your tax-deductible donations to continue our research and education on producer responsibility policy in California.  Your donation helps move the needle in achieving a circular economy.  Donations of any amount are welcomed and are tax deductible.

Local Government Contributions

Contributions from your town, city, or county help support the work of CPSC.  Fees are assessed each fiscal year starting July 1st and ending June 30th based on population size and a tiered fee schedule adopted by the CPSC Board of Directors. To complete your contribution to CPSC, or if you'd like to discuss becoming a new financial supporter of CPSC, please reach out to us at 916.706.3420 (or email us at info@calpsc.org) to discuss payment options.

Once a month, CPSC provides a local government legislation update for funders. We cover all active legislation and regulations relevant to solid waste and recycling in California. We also cover active campaign updates, press, and events. These funder-only meetings provide status updates and advocacy opportunities to influence policies.

What is extended producer responsibility (EPR)?

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is a strategy to place a shared responsibility for end-of-life product management on the producers, and all entities involved in the product chain, instead of the general public; while encouraging product design or redesign that minimizes the negative impacts on human health and the environment at every stage of the product's lifecycle. This allows the costs of processing and recycling or disposal to be incorporated into the total cost of a product. This also places primary responsibility on the producer, or brand owner, who ultimately makes design and marketing decisions for their products. It also creates a setting for recycled commodities markets to emerge, which helps support a true circular economy.
